Ando’s Match Report – Round 13

Over the last month we have failed to find consistency in our performance for an entire game. Again, on Saturday vs Sturt we had moments of some really good football and plenty of chances to play a consistent brand but, slightly let ourselves down in some critical areas.

We need to get back to our brand and it starts this coming week. We pride ourselves on being strong in the contest and hard to play against. This is paired with an exciting brand of offence that has deserted us over the last four games.

Saturday still had some highlights that fans would be excited with. Oscar Steene returned to the side and showed he can compete against a senior ruckman; his effect inside the contest and follow up work was great to watch. Dylan McCormick continues to impress with his improvement each week, coupled with his hunger for the contest. Our boys in the middle Allan, Kennedy and Stevens battled away all day and Clayton Gay was lively up forward kicking a couple of nice goals.

A big highlight on the day was Kenny Karpany being presented with painted football boots before the game to celebrate Indigenous Round.

The group is invested in being able to bounce back and get our ‘A game’ back up and running, we need to instil confidence in each other that our best footy as individuals and a group is not too far away.

We were disappointed about our results over the last month, in particular Saturday, as it was a big day for the club remembering the great Neil Kerley.

Plenty to work on during the week to prime ourselves to get a win; – I’ve said this plenty of times about these team mates; and that is, I will never question the desire and the effort they put in to improving.

Consistency in performance is key.

Thanks to all those who supported the boys on Saturday, we look ahead to Centrals at home.
