For Round 6 we saw 3 debutants play against Adelaide. Newcomers Liam Delahunty, Kobe Ryan & Michael Laudato (which makes 13 now for the year so far) all showed excellent promise for us going forward. In particular Kobe Ryan with 21 touches and 2goals was very impressive, and became more confident as the game progressed.
After a competitive 1st quarter the Crows team took out in the first half with 11 of their 13 goals coming from our errors. By half time already we were looking at a 63 point deficit and so we made a couple of structural changes which seemed to ebb the flow.
To the players credit they came out after half time with a renewed energy to post a couple of quick goals which seemed to lift the spirits. The boys tidied their skills and decision making execution to string some nice passages together. This resulted in us winning the 2nd half 8 goals, 3 behinds to 6 goals, 6 behinds. It left me a lot more buoyed that we can match it against all the teams in the competition but just have to do it for longer. For 3 quarters we actually matched it with the Crows 11.4 to 11.7.
Special mention to Josh Carmichael as he tried extremely hard all day, Kaiden Brand, Callum Park & Nic Couroupis down back held their own again. Squire, Stevens, Boyle, K Ryan & Charlie Allan battled hard in the middle of the ground and up forward. Max Marslen & Matt McKenzie showed their flair later in the game.
For our next match we play Port Adelaide Magpies at Loxton with hopefully Hamish Hartlett, Josh Ryan & Jono Beech returning to add some extra experience to the team. Hope to see many of you there supporting the team!
