We faced Centrals at home on Saturday.
Our fast play execution contributed to excellent offense in the first quarter, opening up space in our forward half and producing high-percentage shots on goal, which we successfully converted. Sam Burbridge was very influential early in the game, playing a significant role in our strong contest. While our team defence struggled throughout the term, our offensive performance managed to compensate.
The second quarter was an even contest, but the defensive issues from the first term were exposed, allowing Centrals to play the game on their terms. During halftime, we discussed the importance of our defensive efforts, and the players responded well. The game remained well contested in the second half, with Centrals gaining ascendancy at stoppages, putting our defenders under pressure. However, our defenders managed this pressure admirably.
Late in the final term the unity and character of our players was pleasing to see, as they kicked the final goal of the game to secure victory.
Lachlan Slattery, Tom Kain and Ben Jeffries were excellent in our back half while Sam Burbridge set the game up for us and Lucas White was judged our best forward.
Best: Lachlan Slattery, Tom Kain, Sam Burbridge, Lucas White and Ben Jeffries
Goals: Lucas White (3), Noah Baker, Mitch Marsh, Finn McArdle, Bailey White (2), Hamish Dow, Jaylen Sochacki (1)
