Last Saturday our Under 16’s faced off against Norwood in round 12 at Hisense Stadium in windy conditions.
Our boys started well narrowly leading Norwood by 4 points at quarter time and should have been in front, but unfortunately, we were unable to capitalise on good movement and looks inside our forward 50.
It was Norwood in the second quarter who lifted their work rate and intensity significantly to get their hands on the ball first enabling them to control possession and make it difficult for us to make good decisions and move the ball in to our inside 50. We trailed by 3 points at the main break.
The second half unfortunately saw much of the same, with Norwood’s relentless pressure causing our boys to make skill error after skill error continually giving the ball back. We lacked composure with ball in hand and we only managed to score 2 points for the rest of the game, which is unacceptable for 46 minutes of football.
When looking at the numbers we ended up accumulating the same number of disposals as Norwood but their efficiency and cohesion was a key factor that separated us and our lack of system and chemistry into our forward 50.
