2019 Signings & Recruits

2019 Recruits

The West Adelaide Football Club would like to welcome another new recruit, Patrick Levicki. The 26 year old, 196cm former Norwood defender has played 51 SANFL league games and will add valuable experience to our young list.

Levicki will strengthen our defence, being a strong intercept marker and one on one defender with elite running capacity.

2015 and 2016 were standout seasons for Levicki and he has impressed the coaching department being one of Norwoods best players against us on numerous occasions. Senior Coach Gavin Colville is excited to have a player of his capabilities join the West Adelaide Football Club.

The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of 23 year old Jade Cleeland for season 2019. Jade has played for Werribee in the VFL having originally come from the Wangaratta Magpies.

Being able to play as a key forward and in the ruck, Jade will provide the side with the flexibility and scoring ability we require to play finals in 2019.

Senior coach Gavin Colville has said, “We have been working hard on getting Jade to WAFC after meeting with him at the end of 2017. He is not only a great player but he has many of the personal characteristics we look for in our players.”

Jade is a plumber by trade and looking forward to his move to West Adelaide Football Club

2015 Premiership Captain and Jack Oatey Medallist, Chris Schmidt will be returning to play for West Adelaide Football Club in 2019.

Senior coach Gavin Colville has said ‘We certainly look forward to having Chris playing again. The year away from state league football has enabled his body to recover to a level where we feel very confident he can impact either as a midfielder or as a half-back.’

‘Importantly Chris brings a professional presence both on and off the field. He will be actively involved as a mentor for some of our younger players.’

There is a sense of returning home having spent most of his footballing life at the club he loves. He said ‘Having a year off footy at SANFL level really helped refresh me physically and mentally, and I can’t wait to get out there again with the boys. There is a great feeling around the club at the moment, and my gut feel is we are ready to take the next step and play some finals footy again’

Chris has played 132 games for West Adelaide as well as 18 games for the Adelaide Crows and two for the Brisbane Lions. His experience and leadership is something we are very excited about having back at West Adelaide.

Midfielder Will Snelling says he’s returning to Richmond with a ”different way of looking at League footy” after spending the past three years with AFL club Port Adelaide.

Insisting he’s not a recruit but a happy homecomer, Snelling will begin his second stint with the Bloods with a much more mature outlook than the one applied while earning a 2015 premiership medallion.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the consistent ball magnet is now armed with the ability to play a variety of roles, including half-forward, as an attacking midfielder and also as a tagger.

Welcome home Will

The West Adelaide Football Club is thrilled to announce a major signing for season 2019. Former Hawthorn and Box Hill player, Dallas Willsmore will don the red and black after he signed a two year deal late Tuesday night. The 23 year old who reaches 191 cm, played two games for Hawthorn in 2017 and was also a member of Box Hill’s premiership side this year in the VFL.

Willsmore possesses an elite kick and skills who has played predominately across half back in the past few years.

Senior coach Gavin Colville said, “Dallas will become an important addition to our league side and with his strong running capacity we see him filling multiple roles, including across half back and wing. His experience in the AFL system will be extremely beneficial to our current group of players and we are excited to see how he develops at our club.”

Welcome to Westies Dallas!
