West Adelaide celebrated the retirements of Jason Porplyzia and Daniel Webb with a 64-point win against Adelaide at City Mazda Stadium.
Desperate to give their premiership pair a memorable farewell, the Bloods did exactly that with a dominant final three quarters which yielded 16.12 to the Crows’ 7.6.
After struggling to break clear of Adelaide in the first term, the hosts put the foot on the accelerator during the second term by kicking the only six goals of the stanza.
Three of these came in succession to star veteran Jono Beech, who finished off the season strongly with a game-high haul of five majors for the afternoon.
The lead got to as high as 71 points when valuable West swingman Chris Burgess kicked truly 27 minutes into the final term before Darcy Fogarty ensured the Crows would finish with 10 goals for the match.
Despite only having 11 more disposals, the Bloods had a whopping 27 more inside 50 entries and 19 more scoring shots to illustrate the dominance of the final performance of the season under first-year mentor Gavin Colville.
Tireless midfield pair Kaine Stevens and Josh Schiller collected 63 disposals between them while exciting AFL draft prospect Izak Rankine had 20 disposals and three goals in what will likely be his last appearance in the red and black.
Porplyzia tallied 13 touches and a first-term goal while Webb mustered seven disposals and seven tackles before both players were fittingly chaired off the ground in front of the Westies’ faithful.
