WAFC goes Solar

Recently the West Adelaide Football Club installed the first stage of a state of the art solar system in conjunction with our official energy partner, Cool or Cosy. The club has a goal to be recognised as a contributor to the local community, by providing a sustainable precinct for many to enjoy, and as such developed the WAFC Solar Panel Program in conjunction with the Australian Sports Foundation. There will also be significant cost saving which I’m sure everyone can identify with due to the cost of power increasing unpredictably over the past 5 years.

The WAFC Solar Panel Program has 2 stages which will be critical in ensuring we are able to continue to drive football participation and develop talented male and female players.

The first stage of the project involved turning on a 79kw system consisting of 160 panels allowing us to generate approximately 30% of our own energy. This has been made possible by a number of generous supporters providing a tax deductable donation to the project via the Australian Sports Foundation. This Federal Government agency has helped sporting clubs raise over $350m since inception in 1986.

The Club is hugely grateful for the support of the initial donors and would like to extend opportunity for others to assist by via our Australian Sports Foundation page. All donations are tax deductible and are administered by the Australian Sports Foundation ensuring the funds are directed to the registered project. If you would like any more details on the WAFC Solar Panel Program please contact the club.
