West Adelaide’s Rachelle Martin continues to defy her inexperience, earning the Round 5 Powerade Breakthrough Player nomination.
Despite playing just her second season of Australian Football, Martin showed plenty of maturity in racking up 26 disposals, 15 tackles and a goal in the Bloods win against Glenelg at City Mazda Stadium.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 19-year-old revealed her first season was in the SAWFL last year, also with Westies.
Relishing the chance to play with her older sister Hannah at Richmond, Martin said she is looking to improve her skills by hand and foot as she continues to learn the game.
Off the field, the talented rover is studying Accounting and Corporate Finance at the University of Adelaide.
