Retirement Announcements

The West Adelaide Football Club wishes to inform members and supporters that both Brad Helbig and Taite Silverlock have decided to retire from SANFL football and play at a local level.

Taite has played 104 games for the club and is a product of our junior system, coming through the ranks starting at Under 17’s. Taite spent 2 years at Essendon after being taken in the 2009 rookie draft. After that stint he returned to the WAFC where he thrilled our fans with his spectacular high marking and hard running as a wing man. Taite has been working in his own private fitness industry business and the time commitment with this has made it impossible for him to continue his SANFL playing career with us.

Brad has suffered from numerous hip injuries which has meant the demands of SANFL football have become too great for him to commit to another season with the Bloods. Brad was also a product of our junior system, and leaves us after having played 19 league games. Brad was known for his ruthless attack on the footy and was a prominent figure during our 2015 finals campaign.

We thank both Taite and Brad, both 2015 premiership players, for their service to the West Adelaide Football Club and wish them all the best for the future.
