The West Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce that the Board of the Club have approved the change of the naming of the Best and Fairest Medallion as the Neil Kerley Medal.

This replaces the Steve Hamra Medal named after Steve Hamra Senior (deceased) who was the long serving Mayor of the City of West Torrens and a fantastic supporter of the West Adelaide Football Club.

Club CEO John Kantilaftas said “The Board acknowledged the great contribution of Steve Hamra Senior and the Hamra family for the Club, however the Board felt that it was now appropriate that the Best and Fairest Medal be named after a great player of the West Adelaide Football Club. There is none greater over the past 60 years than Neil Kerley having won 4 Best and Fairest medals (1958, 1959, 1961 and 1962) at the Club, playing in the 1961 Premiership and having coached two Premierships in 1961 and 1983”.

The Board have also honoured two other great players for the Club by introducing the Roger Luders Award for the highest goal scorer for the season and the Grant Fielke Award which is selected by the League Coach for a player that shows leadership, team focus and work ethic, commitment and consistency.
